CGPA conversion, attendance, and education loan calculators
Three free calculators built for Indian college life: converting your CGPA to a percentage for job applications, tracking whether you'll clear the mandatory 75% attendance requirement, and planning education loan repayments before you sign.
How to Use This Tool
Choose the calculator that matches the question you need to answer. For CGPA conversion, enter the value shown on your marksheet and select the formula published by your university. For attendance, enter total classes and classes attended as whole numbers, then choose the target percentage you need to reach. For an education loan estimate, enter the principal, annual interest rate, and repayment tenure from the lender's illustration. Check each result against your university rules or lender quotation before using it in an official form. The tools are designed for quick planning: they keep the inputs simple, show the working, and make it easier to discuss a result with a placement office, college administrator, family member, or bank representative.
Formula & Calculation Method
The CGPA converter applies the selected institutional formula, such as CGPA multiplied by 9.5 for the CBSE/UGC convention, rather than pretending every university uses the same scale. The attendance calculator divides attended classes by total classes and multiplies by 100. To estimate classes still required, it solves the target equation using the current attendance total and adds future attended classes until the target is met. The EMI calculator uses the reducing-balance formula EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n / ((1 + r)^n − 1), where P is principal, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of instalments. Results are estimates and do not replace official certificates, attendance registers, or loan sanction letters.
1. CGPA to Percentage Converter
Different Indian universities use different official conversion formulas — using the wrong one can misstate your percentage on applications. The converter covers CBSE/UGC, VTU, Mumbai University, and a generic ×10 formula, and shows the exact formula used for your result.
2. Attendance Calculator
Most Indian colleges enforce a minimum 75% attendance rule to sit for exams. Enter your total and attended classes to see your current percentage and exactly how many more classes you need to attend to clear the requirement.
3. Education Loan EMI Calculator
Enter your loan principal, interest rate, and repayment tenure to see your expected monthly EMI before you commit to a loan offer, using the standard reducing-balance EMI formula.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Which CGPA formula should I use?
- Use the one your university publishes — it's printed on your grade card or exam section website. When in doubt, CGPA × 9.5 is the CBSE/UGC standard most recruiters accept.
- Why do VTU and CBSE give different percentages for the same CGPA?
- Each university calibrates its own grading curve. VTU subtracts 0.75 before scaling because its CGPA runs slightly higher on average than CBSE's.
- Will companies accept a converted percentage?
- Yes, for application forms — but for final verification, get an official conversion certificate from your university before placement season.
- How is the EMI formula calculated?
- Using the standard reducing-balance formula: EMI = P × r × (1+r)ⁿ / ((1+r)ⁿ − 1), where P is principal, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of monthly instalments.
